New “Read Write Connect” Wiki

January 17th 2007

ITTS and the Web Editorial Board have been working on a new wiki to replace the web page that listed ALA’s blogs, wikis, and RSS feeds. The wiki format will make it much easier to maintain these lists, as well as expand it to include other resources like Flickr accounts (photos), virtual worlds (like Second Life), podcasts (audio), social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook), and other new formats/technologies/tools as they pop up.

The new wiki went live today at http://wikis.ala.org/readwriteconnect/. It’s also the link behind the “Blogs Wikis RSS Feeds” graphics on the home page now.

Let us know if you encounter any problems accessing any the resources. We’d love feedback on the site, especially ideas for improvement.

CMS Implementation

January 5th 2007

American Libraries online went live on Collage in late December. We experienced some problems with the implementation and now have a complete list of issues to resolve. I called the CEO of Duo Consulting yesterday to escalate these issues and get the necessary expertise on site to get these problems resolved. As a result, two consultants from Duo Consulting will be here on Monday to work with us to get these issues resolved. I also rescheduled our ITTS strategic planning retreat to next Friday so we can work with the consultants. Special thanks to George Eberhart in American Libraries for helping us identify these issues.
